Saints soul searching

2009

The New Orleans Saints fought very hard last season, but still wound up on the bottom of the NFC South division. How great Drew Brees is, isn't the question. Yes he is the Number five player in all of the NFL right now,but without other great players he can only do so much. Even though some of his team mates are free agents hopefully they will be re-signed before Friday's deadline!!!!
Looking at the free agents from the Saints doesn't seem like many key players are there, but lets look again at those that if not re-signed will become free agents and what they offer to rival teams.  First off they are some key players for the Saints, You have Deuce McAllister  whom has been with the Saints for eight season now. Deuce has been there even before Brees got there and surely knows all his calls' as well as as every play they have. Secondly you have Lance Moore who has only been there four season, but with his performances last season with (Marques Colston being out so long with a wrist injury),Why would u even chance letting him get away?  And finally you have Devery Henderson who also has been there for  five seasons. Probably not as well known as Marques Colston or Reggie Bush,But has been a key player since both of the fore mentioned had been out several weeks each last season.

All of the Saints players I have named that will be come free agents, if not signed by Friday, have played their entire career's as Saints.
So as a Saint's fan, i say that at least  Henderson and Moore need to be re-signed. It's hard to find players that go out week after week, and play as well as these two do. Also without next too no recognition,These two men have earned their spot on the Saint's roster. I would even be so bold as to say that those weeks that Colston and Bush were out,  If not for these two men the Saints wouldn't have won some of the games that they did win!!!  Alas all good things must come to an end, which i believe is the case for Deuce McAllister. He had an excellent run with the Saints in his eight season's  He racked up 6,096 yard's and 49 touchdowns!!!   Pretty impressive from anyone's point of view.
The Saint's had and have an excellent team,Hopefully this year thing's will go a little more smoothly. Brees is in my opinion the greatest quarterback in the NFL today, So if his team is strong this coming season hopefully we will seem them in the playoffs next year. Who know maybe even in the Superbowl!!!

Detroit Lions Set New Record

2008

The Detroit Lions own a dubious piece of NFL history. Detroit became the first 0-15 team ever when it was routed 42-7 by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The Lions where they haven't won since 1991, will try to avoid a perfectly awful season in the finale at Green Bay!!!

Detroit Lions fans got excited when the Lions finally fired team president Matt Millen following an 0-3 start and a 31-84 mark over seven-plus seasons. All though the team hasn't been able to overcome the mess he left behind. The Lions are the NFC-worst 10-25 since hiring Marinelli. Rod Marinelli has been sticking with the similar mantra for two-plus seasons and the results have not been any good on Sundays, making Millen's final record an NFL-worst.

As far as the game Sunday Detroit scored its only points with the Lions Kevin Smith and his 1-yard run early in the second quarter. The Lions opened the second half with a penalty for breaking the huddle with 12 players, and things seemed only to get worse as the game continued. Drew Brees connected with Marques Colston twice in the third quarter for a 42-7 lead. Detroit benched Dan Orlovsky early in the fourth quarter, where he had sadly  only completed 10 of 23 passes for 125 yards, with two interceptions. Dan has now fallen to 0-6  in his career as a starting Quarterback.

I guess the only question that is on everyone's mind is Will Detroit even win another game?    Most likely they will but i don't see it happening this season.  They have to finish out this year at Green Bay, And i just don't see the Packers going down in history as the team that Detroit beat to end their horrific losing streak.

Are The Panthers Repeating Week 7

2008

With The Carolina Panthers coming off a Disappointing loss to the Superbowl Champs the New York Giants, will this be their week to shine once again like they did in week 7 with a win over the Saints????
The Panthers have played well all season and that is why they are first in their division, but this coming weekend is a hugh game not only for the divisional stand point, but for both teams as well. Carolina and the Saints have always been at each other throat's. It should be an excellent game since the Saints have gotten most of their key players back. Unlike what happened in week 7, I do believe the Panthers will have to beat the Saints this time. The last match-up was kinda unfair, since Marques Colston was out with a broken finger, Jeremy Shockey was out with a sport 's hernia, and let's not forget this is the week where Reggie Bush got a knee injury and is still dealing with it to this day. Yes the Panthers have been strong all season, but can they actually defeat the Saints when the whole team is playing????  We shall see.
Just a little stats to make my theory a little more strong.  First is Jake Delhomme vs Drew Brees    Delhomme is  ranked # 22 in the NFL. Where as Brees is ranked # 1  Running Backs; Carolina's DeAngelo Williams is ranked # 5 where as Pierre Thomas for the Saints is ranked # 3  Wide Receiver's;   Saints Marques Colston is ranked # 8 and  Steve Smith for Carolina is ranked # 13.  Tight Ends;  Panthers Jeff King is Ranked # 31  where as Jeremy Shockey Saints tight end is ranked # 9. So with all the hype Carolina has gotten this year, it seems kinda like everyone has forgotten the Saints. Well that might be a very hugh mistake to have made. With the stats the Saints have, they could EASILY beat Carolina. we shall see!!!!!!

Dressing Like A Saint

2008

The New Orleans Saints are without any doubt one of my favorite teams... Listed below are some Jerseys I would love to have.

1) Robert Meachem. Meachem is a good receiver and is probably the least known of any of the Saints top notch players. Robert started his career as a Saint last season and has quickly made his way to their third best receiver. Meachem has ran for 253 yards this season with 2 touchdowns also.

2) Devery Henderson. Devery is probably a little more well known that Meachum. Henderson was like a fire cracker just exploding on the field earlier this season after their number one Receiver was out from week 2 through week 6. Since Colston's return Devery has kinda stepped out of the spot light. Henderson is still a key player.

3) Lance Moore. Moore has erupted ever since the Saints came back from their bi-week. Moore in the last four weeks has 5 touchdowns and has help the Saints win three of their last five games. Moore has pretty much become the number receiver for the Saints.

4) Marques Colston. Colston was until this season New Orleans number one Receiver. Marques got hurt badly week one and was out for 5 weeks. Marques has done pretty well since his return. But with other receivers stepping up to take his spot while he was out and have continued to do so, his stats are down. Colston is by no means done, he is just taking it easy.

5) Pierre Thomas. Pierre started last year as a rookie with the Saints. Thomas was their second running back behind Reggie Bush. Bush got hurt week 7 and Pierre had been very impressive as starting running back until Reggie returned. Pierre has gotten more Touchdowns than Bush this season so far. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

6) Deuce McAllister. Most likely one of the top five most household names of the Saints in the past five years or so. Deuce started his career with the Saints back in 2001 and still is very much active in their starting roster. Deuce may not get as much playing time as he did but he is still playing and scoring to lead the Saints to win many games.

7) Jeremy Shockey. Shockey might not be widely known as a Saint ,but i bet alot of people remember him from his former team and last years Superbowl champs the N.Y. Giants. Shockey has been a Saint only one year but has helped the Saint to win in key games. Shockey has no Touchdowns this season but he was out with a sportsman hernia from week 3 until week 7. Shockey has had very limited playing time since, but is a very effective key in the New Orleans team.

8.) Reggie Bush. Bush has been the dominate force with the running game. Reggie is very fast and agile, and when Brees is in a tight spot he can give Reggie the ball for fast action plays. Reggie also started his career as a Saint and done very well at it. Reggie has 1,520 rushing yards and 12 touchdown in just three short years.

9) Drew Brees. The Man behind the Saints. Brees is without a doubt the Most impressive player on the Saints roster. Brees Quarterback rating has never been lower than an 89.4%  and is normally a 96.2% or higher. Brees came to the Saints in '06 and has done very well ever since. Drew has stayed pretty much in the top 5 of the NFL Quarterback rankings all year. The Saints have a year full of injuries and absent players and still have managed to do as well as they have. So that proves with all Brees has had to endure he is the Man that has giving the Saints the will to play on and win. Brees is leading the March of the Saints.

Bears Roar Back

2008

The New Orleans Saints and The Chicago Bears were tied coming into last nights game at  (7-6-0). They both needed the win to keep their teams spirit alive, but they knew only one could win.......

The Bears were the first to score ending the first quarter (7-0). Then in the second quarter the Saints tied it up. The Bears took over and drove back to the red zone to once again score a touchdown now making it a seven point lead. New Orleans got the ball back and drove to the  Bears 39 yard line. This is where the second interception of the night helped Chicago gain an even bigger lead. Drew Brees interception was moment's later, yet again turned into another touchdown that now made the score (21-7) at halftime.

The second half started with Brees and the Saints Rallying back to get another touchdown to close the gap between them and the Bears. Now a seven point game, Kyle Orton and the Bears try to rally yet again to get another touchdown but were stopped in their attempts. Fourth quarter came and the Saints were marching down field to yet again score another touchdown, to put them only three points behind. Getting that much needed touchdown the Saints were very close and just needed to get a field goal to tie. The Bears regain possession of the ball and drove to the Saints 31 yard line but was stopped once again, giving the saints that chance they needed to score and be winning the game. With only 3:41 seconds left in the game the Saints get a field goal to tie the game. Hoping that Chicago would not score the Saints defense did everything they could to stop them. With 12 seconds on the clock the Bears kick a field goal to once again tie the game and go into overtime at (24-24)

Overtime started with Chicago and they drove down the field to the Saints 35 yard line. This is were the game would end with the Bears kicking a 35 yard field goal to make the score (24-27).
