All but forgotten as playoff contenders just one month ago, the Philadelphia Eagles have a playoff win, And are on their way to play last seasons Super Bowl champions.
The Eagles going into the game were looked at as very, very lucky to even be there playing in the game at all. If not for the events that had took place the last four weeks of regular season, the Eagle would not be able to have had the chance to play today. but as the game began and continued it was easy to see that they had come to win. Even though during most of the game the Minnesota Vikings did everything to stop the Eagles, midway through the fourth quarter Brian Westbrook caught a short pass out of the backfield and zigzagged through the Minnesota defense for a devastating 71-yard touchdown. The Eagles spoiled the Vikings' first home playoff game in eight years.
Though he was benched briefly in November, McNabb set a franchise record for passing yards this season and helped Philadelphia make the postseason for the seventh time in the last nine years. Very impressive yes, but McNabb isn't perfect. McNabb lost a fumble in the third quarter and took an 8 yard sack to push the Eagles out of David Akers' field goal range. Jackson was 15 of 35 passing for 164 yards. Stability at quarterback almost certainly would have given the Vikings another win or two, and perhaps a first-round bye. Jackson showed he's still quite raw and in need of a lot more experience. Jackson lost his job in September but got it back when Gus Frerotte was hurt. Is it fair to say that with the events of the day and the lack of playing time this season, that Jackson is the key reason why the Vikings couldn't get any rhythm? Or is it better to say that one of the main reason's they lost is that the Eagles applied plenty of pressure to keep Jackson from bouncing back.
Either way u look at it this is simple, the Philadelphia Eagles will travel to New York next Sunday, and face the top-seeded and NFC East rival New York Giants in the Meadowlands.
